About the Author
Sunggu Lee received the B.S.E.E. degree with highest distinction from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, in 1985 and the M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, Korea. Prior to this appointment, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, U.S.A. From June 1997 to June 1998, he spent one year as a Visiting Scientist at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. His research interests are in parallel computing using clusters, fault-tolerant computing, and real-time computing.

I bought this book tonight and read it to my fourteen year old granddaughter. She smiled. This is a wonderful book to share with those you love.

Received this today and couldn't wait to read it. I'm a grandmotherly age, although I don't have any grandchildren yet. I listened to Ainsley (if I may please call her that) talk about her father and this book, including her reading from it, on Fox and Friends the day it was released; and I immediately, before the show ended, went to Amazon to order it. I knew I wanted to have this on my shelf ready to read to my grandchild or grandchildren if I am lucky enough to be blessed with them. I love to read it and look at the beautiful artwork (by Jaime Kim) - so sweet, soft, and lovely; so fitting for Ainsley's words. The poetry is so lovely and will be wonderful to read to a child over and over again. Note that it is appropriate for boys or girls; no gender is mentioned. What a loving, beautiful tribute to her daughter. This book is full of the love a mother feels for her child and the words of wisdom, love, and hope we want to pass on to our children and our grandchildren - A mother's dream. Well done, Ainsley; and thank you for this gift.

The guide is short and to the point, and reviews in an intuitive way the concepts of linear algebra. Since it's such a short read and provides examples that allow the student to develop an instinctive sense for solving common problems, I would recommend it as a companion to any new student in a linear algebra class, as well as anyone looking to review the basics of the subject.The exercises are simple enough to teach the basics, and the more challenging problems and explanations are thought provoking enough to develop mastery of the subject - adequately preparing the reader for tough extra credit problems to be faced on an exam.

Grinfeld's teaching methods reach into the mind of the student and allows the student to fulfill their potential at a stress free pace. His explanations and approaches are bullet proof especially when applied to his exercises and problems which further clarify the theory of the subject. It's apparent that what is most important for the reader is not being able to solve highly confusing systems with ease using tricks or muscle memory, but instead having a complete understanding of the theory.I don't see the importance in the practice of solving a 100x100 linear systems by hand, when a computer can do it in a moment's time. What is important however, is understanding the frame work upon which linear algebra is founded. This book takes full advantage of this idea and I highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to explore or even look back on the subject of linear algebra.Also, the connections to history and applied mathematics add a nice touch of relevance and entertainment.

Stupid book. Too much calculation ( and mistakes!) to little idea, and you call yourself "a second look"?

There is a mistake in just about every other example or exercise.I guess for $3, the author couldn't even afford to proof read it.

This is an excellent book on the subject written by Dr. Pavel Grinfield a know expert in the field. Dr. Grinfield has posted a complete set of lectures on Youtube. I have found this an excellent way to learn the subject.
